Although more small businesses are using social media than last year, the numbers are still surprisingly low according to a survey by Newtek: The Small Business Authority. The survey found 57 percent of businesses have a Facebook or Twitter account, which is an increase of 10 percent over 2012 findings. The survey also found that business owners are rarely educated about risks involved with social media such as posting critical information that should not be put in the public eye. Only 30 percent of businesses surveyed are concerned about sharing their customers’ data over social media. Is your business doing all it could to make sure employees don’t “overshare”?
