Ask your customers how they feel about the current economy and you’ll probably get a wide variety of answers. But according to the latest Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, Americans are more optimistic about the economy than they have been since the recession began. The group’s Index jumped to 81.4 this month, up sharply from 74.3 in May. It was the third straight monthly increase and has reached its highest level since January 2008. More good news: The percentage of consumers expecting the economy to produce more jobs in the next six months improved to 19.6 percent in June from 16.3 percent the previous month.
