5 Easy Ways to Make Your Blog Posts Incredibly Useful and Valuable
Someone reading a great blog!

Want to make your blog posts even better? And by better, I mean useful, valuable, and engaging? Want your blog to become a can’t-wait-to-read resource? Here are 5 super easy things you can do that will make a difference – they did for me!

1. Have a point

Explain right at the beginning of your blog post what it is you are writing about. Basically, you want to explain the value of the blog post so they’ll continue to read it. Are you going to teach your readers how to do something? Offer expert analysis on a trend that will affect your target market? Entertain them? Be clear and straightforward.

2. Add a story

Stories really drive home your point and make it more memorable and relatable, especially if it’s your own story. Your entire blog post doesn’t need to be a story, but sharing a few short stories as examples will definitely make your point clearer and your overall blog post more engaging.

3. Use statistics

One of my clients always says, “Numbers don’t lie, but people do.” He’s an options trader, and he trades based on charts, which are based on numbers. Similarly, statistics don’t lie. Instead, they add credibility to your argument and make your point that much stronger.

4. Focus on teaching

My blogging really improved when I made it a point to teach readers how to do something. Almost every single blog post I write is a list of tips, no matter what the subject might be – readers seem to find those posts the most useful and valuable. Think about your expertise and what you can teach your audience.

5. Insert links

Make it easy for your readers to find out more information by adding links within your blog posts, either to other blog posts you’ve written or to blog posts and articles others have written. If you do send your readers off your site, make sure you choose to have the link open in a new window rather than the same so you don’t lose the reader altogether.

What other elements do you think take a blog from OK to awesome?
