        Remember “showrooming”—the trend that had brick-and-mortar retailers quaking in their boots? Showrooming occurs when customers visit a store to look at merchandise, then use their smartphones to search for a better price on the same item elsewhere (usually online) and leave without buying anything. We heard a lot about showrooming in the months leading up to the 2013 holiday retail season, but not so much since then. Speed, according to LivePerson’s second annual Connecting With Customers study, which polled nearly 6,000 online shoppers worldwide. More than three-fourths (77 percent) of consumers say they want to get things done as quickly as possible when they’re online. How long are they willing to wait for help online?             What drives restaurant customers crazy, what do they crave more of and what do they expect from your eatery? A recent national survey by restaurant rating company Zagat has some insights. The Zagat Dining Trends survey polled customers in 21 major markets across the U.S. about their habits, expectations and annoyances when dining out. How are customers making reservations?               Are you doing all you can to attract, engage with and market to customers on Facebook? If you’re like most businesses, the answer is no, reports the ExactTarget Audience Growth Survey conducted late last year. The study found that simple Facebook marketing tactics such as putting a Facebook button on a company’s website or marketing materials didn’t work nearly as well as tactics that involve customer service and support. Overall, businesses in the survey didn’t consider providing customer service and support to be one of their top Facebook goals, but those that did provide service and support found it really helped their marketing.
