Did “Go Granny” Go? She Sure Did

Remember Network Solutions’ “Go Granny” video that was released a couple of days before this year’s Super Bowl?

Apparently “Granny” helped NetSol (which hosts this blog community) bring home the bacon big time.

Here’s what the news release said:

“[The] Go Granny parody video featuring Cloris Leachman, which was launched to coincide with Super Bowl weekend, has won the public vote in the social media sphere.

Online sentiment about the Go Granny video campaign has been a whopping 97.5 percent HIGH POSITIVE, attracting attention from social media big wigs like Guy Kawasaki, Scott Monty, Liz Strauss and Jason Falls.”

In addition, we learned that the company’s sales of .co domain names – which featured prominently in the landing page designed for the campaign – increased 500%.

Congrats, Network Solutions.

If you’d like to get a behind-the-scenes look at how this campaign was strategized and promoted, here’s a neat little presentation on it.

  1. I loved the Go Granny video so much that I RT the heck out of it and followed @GoGranny. Okay, I’m a Cloris stalker. But I can put my Betty and Veronica against her Maryann and Ginger any day. I’m smoking hot too, especially after a warm day in naugehyde! NetSol did a bang-up job and I loved it! Besides, Cloris is way sexier than the 20 year old beaver chicks. That stuff is just nasty.

  2. Thanks Alexandra! We had a LOT of fun with it and my colleagues who met Cloris said she was a riot to work with!
