Customers these days are wired 24/7, and therefore can get pretty frustrated if they can’t find free wireless while making their shopping rounds. Does that mean you should offer free WiFi in your store? If you own a restaurant, coffee shop or other venue where customers tend to linger, offering free WiFi may seem like a no-brainer. But it could backfire on you, especially if your WiFi is spotty and customers get frustrated about that. Make sure you have plenty of bandwidth and your network is secure. Only give the password to paying customers, and change it often so you don’t attract “squatters” who come just to use the WiFi and not to buy from you. Finally, make sure your customers’ wireless network is separate from your business network so you don’t have any security issues with your company data.
