Trying to get a handle on what captures teenagers’ attention might not be as hard as you think if you’re hanging out in the right places–#whatseveryonetalkingabout, #pleasebuymyproducts. That’s right, “the” social network for teens to be on is currently Twitter, according to a September 2013 study from Piper Jaffray. So how can you get in on the conversation? For one, make sure you’re visual by linking to Instagram. Twitter may be the most popular social site for teens, but Instagram use among this demographic has increased more than 10 percentage points year after year. Two, tweet a coupon or last-minute deal you know teens will retweet to friends. And three, be real and not too promotional. Teens can spot a fake a hashtag away, so never condescend to them or overpromise.
