Almost three out of five U.S. online buyers surveyed by Adroit Digital and research company Toluna say they have noticed ads popping up online for products they have looked up on other sites. This bodes well for online retailers using retargeted ads to remind shoppers of recent shopping searches. Although consumers don’t necessarily translate those searches into purchases, the survey found 30 percent had a positive or very positive reaction to retargeted ads, while only 11 percent had a negative reaction. Shoppers like to research on several sites before making their purchase, with half of respondents reporting that they visit two or more sites before making a purchase. That means using online advertising could get your business in front of customers during the research stage–even if they’re checking out your competitors.
