Don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of the term “selfie” in marketing. It probably just means you’re not a teenager anymore. Incredibly hot at present, selfies are self-portrait photos shared on social media. And marketers are incorporating selfies into their campaigns by promoting contests asking customers to take selfies and then post them to win various prizes. According to a survey by HTC One, three-quarters of 18-to-24-year-olds and more than one-fourth (29 percent) of people over 65 have taken a selfie. Where are these selfies getting posted? More than any other social site, Facebook is the winner at 48 percent, with the main reasons for taking the photo being to remember a happy moment (35 percent) and to capture a funny moment (34 percent).
