In fact, according to a survey from Millward Brown Digital, consumers overwhelmingly prefer to learn about promotions via email compared to social media. In the survey 40.6 percent of respondents preferred email, while just 27.3 percent preferred social social networking sites. The reason? A senior analyst from Millward Brown Digital believes it’s because email is more personalized and that emails appeal to people because they can open them when they feel like it, on their own terms. The survey also found 94.6 percent of people would visit a retail site immediately after reading an email from the retailer.
