Small Business Tip of the Day: Your Smartphone Could Carry a Virus…
Discussion of strategy with a financial analyst

But not the kind of virus you’re thinking of. According to a new report by U.K. product-testing charity Which,  smartphones and tablets may carry “hazardous” levels of germs which could lead to vomiting, diarrhea and even e.coli infection. One iPad tested had 600 units of Staphylococcus aureus, which was more germs than you would find on an average toilet seat and creates toxins that can lead to food poisoning and was worse. The problems can be even worse in small businesses where employees share mobile devices for ringing up sales or taking orders. Prevent the spread of germs in your business by regularly wiping down smartphone and tablet surfaces with anti-bacterial wipes (be sure to read the manufacturer’s directions first to make sure you don’t damage screens or invalidate any warranties).
