Although consumers seem to getting more comfortable using their mobile devices to make purchases, according to the 2013 Mobile Consumer Insights study by Jumio and Harris Interactive, shopping cart abandonment continues to be a major issue for ecommerce businesses. Sixty-eight percent of smartphone and tablet owners have attempted to make a purchase on their device; however, 66 percent have failed to complete a transaction due to obstacles encountered during checkout. Although consumers like the convenience of mobile shopping, one issue is that most either are still not comfortable entering their credit card information, or find it too difficult to enter the information on their device. One interesting fact: More men (74 percent) than women (62 percent) have attempted to make a mobile purchase.
