The Pew Research Center’s latest report on the living arrangements of Americans shows that the number of young adults between the ages of 18 and 31 is at its highest level in 40 years. In 2012, 36 percent of the nation’s young adults were living in their parents’ home. The reasons for staying under their parents’ roof varied widely—some young adults couldn’t find a job, while others were still attending college. The declining marriage rates of young adults are another factor. Consider the products, services and approaches such multigenerational households are likely to want when you’re planning your marketing strategy.
