Are you missing the “social” part of your social media strategy? While you’d never consider ignoring a ringing phone or an email from a customer, unfortunately, when it comes to responding to social media communications, many business owners are severely slacking off. According to Socialbakers, businesses respond to Twitter questions only 38 percent of the time. The response rate is much better on Facebook (60 percent), but that still means nearly half of communications are being ignored—and even when small businesses do respond, it takes an average of nearly 23 hours to do so. Remember, the reason customers reach out on social media as compared to other avenues of communication is the more casual, friendlier platform—and the expectation of a fast response.
