Web.com Small Business Tip of the Day: Summer Selling

The summer season is a great time to expand your business by setting up a table or booth at your local art festival, flea market or farmer’s market. The atmosphere is casual, and consumers are more willing to spend discretionary income when purchases seem part of the fun. But although the atmosphere is less formal, that doesn’t mean you can be less diligent when it comes to paying taxes and getting permits. Even if you’re a seasonal business, you must pay some taxes such as income taxes on profits of the business, sales taxes on sales of taxable items, self-employment taxes for yourself as a business owner and employment taxes, if you have employees.
