Women in Business Tip: Where to Find Women Business Owners to Mentor You
women in business

It’s troubling that women may have a harder time finding a mentor than men. With fewer opportunities and more challenges than male entrepreneurs, women business owners still need other women business owners to provide advice and mentoring. The key is knowing where to find them. One option is to attend conferences where you know successful women business owners will gather and simply ask. Busy entrepreneurs don’t have a ton of time, but if you have specific questions, chances are you’ll find someone who is willing to help. Dell’s Pay it Forward initiative works on the premise that when women help other women advance in their businesses, those women will pay it forward. Another option is to go online to see where women are communicating, such as blogs for women business owners, and introduce yourself to possible mentors.

    • It takes more than SEO to get attention to your website. You need a blog, which I noticed you did not have. You also need to incorporate some traditional marketing, get some PR for one thing. Find other companies selling to plus-sized women and see if you can establish any affiliate or partnership arrangements with them.

Check to see if there are LinkedIn groups or other online communities of plus-sized women and make your presence known there–you don’t want to hard sell, but become a trusted member of that community.

Do you also sell on eBay or Amazon? Expanding your channels is always a good idea.

If you’re still having a problem, I suggest you seek help–check out your local SCORE office to get a mentor (SCORE.org)
