Women in Business Tip: Do You Fear Technology?
Headache and health problems for young woman at work

Are women business owners more or less likely than their male counterparts to adopt new technologies? The answers vary depending on what survey you read. In one survey of women business owners in South Carolina, women-owned businesses were less likely than other privately owned businesses in the state to use technology such as broadband, but more likely to support their employees using social media for work purposes. However, at a recent conference held at New York’s Internet Week, research from Forrester revealed that women approach technology with a more practical mindset than do men, and are more likely to see technology from the customer’s angle. This approach puts them more in tune with their market and makes them better able to serve its needs. If you are a technophobic, how can  you get over your fears? As with all things new, education is the best solution. By becoming familiar with technology, it will be less intimidating to you. Find a trusted tech advisor who speaks plain English and get a little hand-holding—soon, you’ll be ready to dive right in.
